Remedial Massage Therapy

May assist with pain management, aid in recovery from soft tissue injuries and can stimulate relaxation. Just about anyone can benefit from massage therapy, from infants to the elderly. Remedial massage therapy is excellent complement to Chiropractic treatment. It is also an effective stand alone therapy which can aid with a variety of complaints from stress relief to muscle pain and pre and post natal aches and pains.

Relaxation Massage

Is a great way to unwind and relax tight muscles. The techniques used are gentle and flowing. Benefits include increased circulation of blood and lymph, release of endorphins (the “happy & relaxed” hormones), better quality sleep, strengthening of the immune system and nourishment of the skin. This style of massage is performed “oil-on-skin”.

Lymphatic Massage,

Is a type of gentle massage which is intended to encourage the natural drainage of the lymph which carries waste products away from the tissues back toward the heart. It may be of assistance if one is  feeling a bit sluggish, experiencing mild to moderate swelling, recovering from a sports injury or interested in optimizing immunity.

Chinese Remedial Massage (Tui Na)

It adjusts and balances the flow of energy flow in the body (qi) through the body by applying pressure to specific meridians and points. Tui Na treatments can be performed either through clothes or “oil-on-skin”, according to the patient’s preference. Whilst the majority of treatments aim specifically to address musculoskeletal dysfunction, the correction of life qi also benefits the internal organs, body tissues and mind. Remedial exercises may also be included in the treatment plan.

Reiki

is a system of manual therapy that balances and enhances the flow of an individual’s life force energy through direct touch. It is a passive, stationary, hands-on treatment performed through clothes. No movement or pressure is required to achieve its principal effects of relieving stress and pain. Reiki stimulates the body’s own healing processes.

Other styles available Shiatsu, Acupressure, cupping and reflexology. Although all styles are quite different, each treatment is tailored to suit each client and a mix of styles can be used to achieve the best treatment result.
